What is the Benefit of ACCET?
Recognized by the U.S. Department of Education since 1978, ACCET is a reliable authority on educational quality that supports a diverse array of non-traditional post-secondary educational providers, including online TEFL / TESOL institutes such as OnTESOL. The main benefit of ACCET accreditation is that students who complete the TEFL / TESOL certification course with OnTESOL earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) with their OnTESOL certificate. CEUs can be used by K-12 teachers to maintain their teaching license and ESL teachers to meet U.S. employer requirements.
Why Did OnTESOL Choose ACCET Accreditation?
ACCET accreditation supports OnTESOL with raising our standards of training, including the development of innovative features and services.
ACCET accreditation represents both an organizational commitment to and a strategic plan for quality training. To meet ACCET accreditation standards for avocational e-learning institution, OnTESOL is required to follow 9 accreditation standards, which positively impact the objectives of our organization and the quality of the online TEFL / TESOL certification courses we offer in the United States and internationally.
As a result of the rigorous accreditation stage lasting 18+ months, OnTESOL developed new processes and services that have transformed our e-learning institution. We started in 2020 by implementing a new LMS to modernize our courses, help us with data analytics about student progress, and reach our students to participate in surveys that guide continuous educational reviews and course improvements. The new technologies and processes we implemented to meet ACCET accreditation standards resulted in industry-first innovative live features such as the 10-hour Lesson Planning Workshop (2022).
How Long Does Initial ACCET Accreditation Last?
ACCET offers initial accreditation starting for 1-year, 3-year, and 5-years periods that include an ongoing process for the organization to monitor standards prior to renewal. On August 31, 2023, OnTESOL received its initial 3-year accreditation until August 31, 2026. Throughout this period, OnTESOL remains highly committed to monitor, review, and improve upon the processes and services as part of our long-term strategy.
