What is EPIK? EPIK is an English program run by South Korea’s Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology to improve English language proficiency nationwide.

EPIK hires 1,100 teachers every semester and is one of the most popular TEFL employers in the world.

Requirements:
-Native Speaker: Applicants must be native speakers from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, or New Zealand. Also eligible are South Korean citizens who provide proof of studying from middle school (Grade 2) to university in one of the seven countries mentioned above.
-TESOL Certification: TESOL certification is not required, but highly recommended. Those who hold a 100-hour+ TESOL certificate with at least 20 Practicum hours qualify for level 2 pay grade (Approximately $300 extra per month).
-University degree: Applicants must hold a university degree.
-Teaching experience is not required.


Term of Employment:

The period of employment is for one full year. A typical working day is 8 hours and the average work week is 23 hours.


Benefits:

-Salary starts at 1.8 million KRW won per month and goes up to 2.7 KRW per month depending on qualifications and experience. A recent university graduate with a 100-hour TESOL certificate earns approximately 2.1 million KRW won per month.
